Description
Julian Rosefeldt (born 1965) is one of the most internationally renowned video and film artists of the present day. His monumental installation Midwest forms the focal point of the exhibition Wolfsburg Unlimited, in which the history, present and future of Wolfsburg are artistically illuminated. A gloomy container terminal, car tires, crumpled cigarette packets and the mattress warehouse of a homeless man mark the setting before the visitor reaches a run-down drive-in cinema. This is where Rosefeldt’s latest film „The Swap“ is shown: an action film persiflage about tough guys, cars, money and goods flows and organized crime. The present volume documents this masterpiece of installation and film art and deepens its highly political content with essays and an interview with the artist.
